Vijayawada Airport, Gannavaram, India Lifted Its Curtains
Graced by the Chief Minister, N. Chandrababu Naidu and the Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju, the new terminal at Vijayawada Airport, Gannavaram, Andhra Pradesh, India has officially launched on 12 January 2017. Meinhardt was the lead consultant to the design-and-build contractor providing expertise in Architectural Design, Civil and Structural engineering, MEP engineering, Interior Design, Infrastructure, Lighting, Façade and BMU Design and Acoustics.
Completed in less than a year from design to completion, this new terminal building is constructed to cater to the traffic of two million passengers per annum as well as to provide international standard facilities. This GRIHA (Green Rating for Integrated Habitat Assessment) compliant airport has a total built-up area of 13,000 square metres.
The inauguration of Vijayawada Airport once again exhibited and reinforced Meinhardt’s excellence as a global leading multidisciplinary engineering and project management consultancy. Meinhardt was also involved in restructuring and the modernisation of Delhi and Mumbai Airports and provided integrated engineering design and building management services for Air India and SATS Cargo Complex at Bengaluru Airport, Karnataka.
